The Outreach Committee facilitates Skyridge’s wider justice, peacemaking and nonviolence work; leading the congregation in helping meet local and international needs, encouraging individuals and families to become involved in local organizations and community events and maintaining relationships within the larger church community.
Service Discernment Committee
The Service Discernment Committee leads the congregation in a calling out process toward creative sharing of individual gifts in the service of the church and world; helping fill other committees’ positions, assisting in training when needed and coordinates the use of volunteers. We welcome whatever talents people bring to share.
Nurture of Spiritual Life Committee
The Nurture of Spiritual Life Committee works closely with the pastor to set goals for the spiritual nurture of the congregation; planning worship services, special events, celebrations and retreats as well as maintaining communication with inactive members, housebound members and out-of-town members.
The Healing Team (a subcommittee) … is made up of members who are trained in visitation ministry and meet regularly with the pastor to discern and respond to needs of those associated with our congregation. They provide emotional and spiritual support to the congregation through listening, prayer, and presence. Some of the team’s responsibilities include:
- Assisting the pastor with anointing services for forgiveness and healing
- Setting up and serving communion in worship and taking it to members who are ill or home-bound
- Sending cards to those who are celebrating or grieving transitions in their lives, on behalf of the congregation
- Organizing assistance to provide food, transportation, child care, and/or referrals for professional services
Christian Education Committee
The Christian Education Committee plans and implements the educational activities for the church. This includes Sunday morning classes for children and adults, Spiritual Support Small Groups and on-going use of the library and information for visitors. The committee members also may assist with classes for new members. It sets policies and carries out training for all involved in child care and arranges for child supervision at all church events. It plans occasional special events for all ages involved in its program.
Pastoral Relations Committee
The Pastoral Relations Committee acts as a liaison between the pastor and the congregation. Committee members offer nurture and support to the pastor, as well as receive, raise and resolve issues.
The Stewards Committee oversees congregational resources of property (building and grounds), equipment and finances. It organizes and arranges Sunday morning hospitality and ushering. It also keeps a record of worship attendance.
